About the Event
Come join us for a morning retreat of creative prayerwork. You will learn to use some simple watercolor techniques as your language of prayer. There will be an opportunity to use the sacred circle (mandala) as a starting point for reflection through art. The mandala is an ancient prayer form that represents the dialogue between the visible and invisible, earth and heaven, the conscious and unconscious. Silence, inspiring music, and suggested reflections are some of the avenues that will help participants connect with the Sacred Spirit as they pray using personal art expressions. No previous art skills are necessary.
Sr. Joselle Orlando, OSF is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities and has spent over 50 years teaching the arts to youth and adults, using her talents as an artist, vocalist, liturgical choreographer, and retreat facilitator. She has earned both Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Art Education and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from St. Charles Seminary. Sr. Joselle has created the Franciscan Art Studio at Alverna Heights in Fayetteville where she offers watercolor classes for young adults and energetic seniors.
