Poetry like prayer demands a profound receptivity, a surrendering of certainty, a leaning into mystery. It calls us to become still, and to open ourselves wholly to the wonder of all those truths that live between words.
In this workshop we will journey through works of three poets: Gerard Manley Hopkins, a 19th century Jesuit priest, who crafted dense, musical verse that pulses with awe and reverence; Robert Frost, an American icon, who often grounded his poems in the rural and elemental, while yet enabling his contemplative tone and stark landscapes to reveal a spiritual undercurrent; and Jessica Powers, a 20th century Carmelite nun, who wrote with luminous clarity and interior depth.
