About the Event

The Cloud of Unknowing in Our Time

Thursday, February 17  | 7:00 pm (EST) (virtual option available)

Fee: $20, or whatever you can afford

The mystical tradition is intimately connected with the real lives of the mystics who wrote about their experiences. Some of our most beautiful and profound traditions came about in times very similar to our own. Julian of Norwich and the author of the Cloud of Unknowing lived in a time of pandemic. This fact influenced their life and spirituality in profound ways that led to a deep experiential understanding of God. Join Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe as she leads us in an examination of these important works and reflects on how we can take their lessons as our own. Suggested donation $20, or whatever you can afford.

he Rt. Rev. Dr. DeDe Duncan-Probe is the 11th Bishop of Central New York. Bishop DeDe’s vocation as a priest led her to serve in a wide variety of parish ministry settings, including her tenure as the Rector of St. Peter’s in the Woods Episcopal Church in Fairfax Station, Virginia where she became the first woman to shepherd a church from mission to parish status in the Diocese of Virginia. Prior to entering ordained ministry, Bishop DeDe had a successful career in education and business. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University, a Master of Divinity degree from The General Theological Seminary, and a doctor of philosophy degree in theology from The Graduate Theological Foundation, completed at Oxford University. She and her husband, Chris Probe, have three children.
