Actor Martin Sheen described peace activist Jim Forest as trying to answer the question, “How do we live an honest life in such a dishonest world?”  Jim as a young man corresponded and collaborated with Thomas Merton, who was a great spiritual master of that age.  This talk will focus on the relationship between Forest and Merton in light of the new material from Forest’s memoir and the letters he wrote to Merton that were just published for the first time this year.

The Rev. Dr. Steven Moore is the director of the Spiritual Renewal Center, an Episcopal priest, and a licensed clinical psychologist.  He has been reading Merton since the age of fifteen and been a member of the International Thomas Merton Society for most of his adult life.
