Gotcha!

I had the privilege of recording some caregivers from Francis House for a video project. One caregiver told about a resident who was a little rough around the edges. Despite the many gestures of kindness, it was hard to soften her strong exterior. Until one day, she finally cracked a smile. The caregiver said to herself, “Gotcha.”
I couldn’t help but think, that must be how God is with us each day. Constantly offering gestures of love and kindness...just waiting for us to receive them gratefully. Oh how difficult I am...tough skinned.
The caregiver continued to tell how she entered the resident’s room to get her ready for bed and found her asleep while holding a pen in her hand. She was in the process of writing a note. “I have never felt so loved. God bless you.” At that moment, my eyes welled up and I heard, “Gotcha” in my heart. Submitted by Meg Castellini
