I've got you...

As my mom and I waited in the parking lot of her doctor's office, we snacked on a tuna fish sandwich and took in the stunning autumn leaves against the brilliant blue sky. Simply breathtaking - even for a medical office parking lot.

However, what grabbed my attention even more was the exchange between son and mother that took place in the parking space next to us.

This middle-aged man was bringing his mom to the car after her appointment. As he assisted her into the car, I could hear the fear in her voice. He repeated, several times, "Mom, I've got you. I am holding on to you. Don't worry, you're not going to fall."

The next part is what particularly grabbed my attention, "Don't look for WHAT YOU NEED TO HOLD ONTO, I've got you, you're not going to fall." Finally, the woman was at rest in the car.

This caught my attention because I wonder if this is what God might be trying to say to me. "Don't look for what you need to hold onto. I've got you, Margaret. I care about you so much. Trust me, I won't let you fall."

I bet this son doesn't realize that his compassionate care for his mom brought me into the very rest of God this afternoon.
